The stem's center bulges and is elliptical embossed with the two fish and the Swastika, (pronounced "wan" in Chinese), a mystical Buddhist emblem that means good fortune and virtue found often in the Buddhist Classics. The tip is trapezoidal and is engraved with the character xi, which means double happiness. The head and stem is mortised. The back is blank. The tip is attached with a pair of yellow tassels and a decorative knot.
