Description:
The Ruyi has a cloud-styled head and is embossed with the face of a gluttonous beast (this beast-face design is commonly used during the Shang and Chou dynasty and found on bronze wares). Surrounding the beast face is decorated with some drifting cloud and the fretted pattern. On the back, a poem written by Emperor Qianlong during his 36th year reign is engraved, and two square seals are stamped. One seal has engraved inscription of Guxian in shuen-shu (seal style), and another seal has embossed inscription of Taipu also in shuen-shu. The stem bulges in the middle and becomes wider and pointed towards the tip. The middle section of the stem is inscribed with an imperial poem in kai-shu (chancery style). Above and below the poem is embossed with the beast-face in a complicated design. The tip is attached with a pair of light-blue tassels, and one large and two small olive-shaped pearls.
