Technical description: Single headed bass drum; oak shell with two reinforced holes though the shell (diameter 10) with raised bosses of diameter 30. A reinforcing strip of plywood is screwed into the inside of the shell. Ten rod tensioners with hooked ends and brass wing nut tensioner screws; metal hooks fit over the wooden counter-hoop, against which the tension wing-nuts act; calf head. Repair History: Holes drilled through counter-hoop in several places; a piece of tinplate has been nailed over the counter-hoop in one tensioner position, possibly to effect a repair. Three detachable legs for horizontal use a later addition.
