Galileo spacecraft atop the inertial upper stage (IUS) drifts into the blackness of space after deployment from Atlantis', Orbiter Vehicle (OV) 104's, payload bay (PLB) during space shuttle mission STS-34. OV-104 has made a small obiter maneuver to back away from IUS/Galileo. Approximately 15 minutes after deployment, OV-104's orbital maneuvering system (OMS) engines were ignited to move the orbiter away from its released payload.
