Jilek Chromolithograph map of the world, on sheet 56x115, dissected into 20 sections, mounted on linen, folded to 23 x 14, in olive board slip case 23.5x14.5. Date estimated. Showing Ocean Currents and Wind, centered on the Pacific basin, the map covers the entire world, overlapping somewhat in Africa. While there is very little inland detail, many coastal cities are noted. The highlight of this map is its sophisticated study of of world currents and winds. The map follows the work August von Jilek, an oceanographer in the service of Archduke Ferdinand Maximillian. Includes legend,10 insets, tables and diagrams that explain Jilek's theories.
