Following the trails of the pioneers, they are the best natural routes to the land of scenery and romance." Shows Sunset Route, Golden State Route, Overland Route, and Shasta Route. Also shows major cities, parks. monuments, churches, Indian settlements, etc. Margins include vignettes of dated events in the railroad's history since 1862. Colorful compass rose on the right corner. The map was illustrated by J.E.Patterson of Patterson & Sullivan, a San Francisco art firm.
