Probably made specially by Colton for the railroad - this is not the atlas map (it is larger) and it has the simplicity of a railroad map - it shows the stations along the route which is delineated by a thick black line. The text promotes the wonders of Illinois for farming. Explanatory remarks includes Illinois population 1840-1860, School fund, and Central land sale. Prime meridian is Greenwich.
