JSC2006-E-30920 (26 July 2006) --- Karen Kohanowich, deputy director of NOAA's Undersea Research Program, Silver Spring, Md., finds a hidden homing beacon well out of sight of the undersea habitat during a session of extravehicular activity (EVA) for the NASA Extreme Environment Mission Operations (NEEMO) project. Kohanowich is wearing a reconfigurable center of gravity backpack to simulate moon walking. The NEEMO 10 crew is spending seven days, July 22-28, on an undersea mission aboard the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) Aquarius Underwater Laboratory, which is operated by the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and located off the coast of Key Largo, Florida.
