Wilkes, Charles
Note
This is a very rare separate issue of this map. It is unnumbered. Numbered issues were printed in the 1858 Atlas Vol. II of Vol. XXIII of the Wilkes Expedition publications, Hydrography. of which only 100 copies were printed. Inset map is based on Beechy's survey of the harbor. The 1858 publication date is estimated only, this map might have been issued earlier, although at this time it is impossible to know. The map is dated 1841 and was likely drawn then and based on surveys at that time.
