JSC2003-E-59221 (18 October 2003) --- The Soyuz TMA-3 vehicle launches from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan October 18, 2003, carrying astronaut C. Michael Foale, Expedition 8 commander and NASA ISS science officer; cosmonaut Alexander Kaleri, Soyuz commander and flight engineer, representing Rosaviakosmos; and European Space Agency (ESA) astronaut Pedro Duque of Spain to the International Space Station (ISS). The trio will arrive at the ISS October 20, as Foale and Kaleri take over command of Station operations for the next 6 1/2 months. Duque will return to Earth October 28 with cosmonaut Yuri Malenchenko, Expedition 7 commander, representing Rosaviakosmos, and astronaut Ed Lu, NASA ISS science officer, in another Soyuz capsule already docked to the ISS. Michael Foale, American commander and NASA ISS science officer; and Russian cosmonaut Alexander Kaleri, flight engineer and Soyuz commander, along with European Space Agency astronaut Pedro Duque, docked with the International Space Station at 2:16 a.m. CDT (0716 GMT) October 20. At the time of the actual docking, both spacecraft were orbiting Earth above Russia.

ISS007-E-17761 (20 October 2003) --- The Expedition 7 crewmembers, cosmonaut Yuri I. Malenchenko, mission commander representing Rosaviakosmos; and astronaut Edward T. Lu, NASA ISS science officer and flight engineer, pose for a photo by a camera triggered for a change by something other than auto-set or remote means. The photographer in this case was one of the newly arrived Expedition 8 crewmembers, astronaut C. Michael Foale, American commander and NASA ISS science officer and cosmonaut Alexander Kaleri, Russian flight engineer and Soyuz commander; or possibly European Space Agency astronaut Pedro Duque, who joined the Expedition 8 crew for the trip "up" and who will return to Earth on Oct. 28 with the Expedition 7 crew.
