This is an early national road map overlaid on a railroad map showing the related trends of the rise of the automobile and the demise of the railroads. This atlas was originally bound for use by the staff of the San Francisco Examiner newspaper. It has been professionally unbound and boxed, preserving the original appearance and covers, which snap shut over the box portion. Maroon cloth covered boards with large Shell Logo, the name "SHELL," and the words, "San Francisco Examiner," stamped in a pale gold on the front. Two snaps.
