They titled these inexpensive tourist souvenirs "Hysterical Maps," seeking to distinguish them from historical maps, featuring the highlights of the area. Comic vignettes related to Palm Springs, the Imperial Valley and Salton Sea, extending to Mt. San Gorgonio, 29 Palms Joshua Tree, the Cuyamaca Mountains, Salton Sea, Mexicali and Holtville, “mix yourself a broiler maker,” or “every season is the slack season” (for daring women wearing slacks), or a dry lake singing “how dry I am.” The map legend identifies three types of palms: date, native and itching (insert rim-shot here), and the elephant trees are labeled “GOP forest.” Map shows major cities, rivers, trails, roads, lakes, etc. Relief shown pictorially.

Shows the wine making communities of Sonoma - Mendocino, Napa Valley - Solano, Alameda - Contra Costa, Lodi - Sacramento, Santa Clara - San Benito - Santa Cruz, Modesto - Escalon, Fresno - San Joaquin Valley - Kern, Southern California. The unusual feature is the addition of two paper labels identical in design to the printed labels. The "Fresno - San Joaquin Valley - Kern" label is a correction to the name on the map itself (adding 'Kern'); the other label "Modesto Escalon" labels a previously unidentified area. There is a decorative inset at lower left which lists "The Wine-Making Towns of California." The decorative border features quotes about wine. Colored vignettes in wine growing regions; otherwise in brown.

Centered on Virginia City and extending to the Truckee River, Lake Tahoe, the Walker River and the Carson River. The outer ring of mountains locates Sevier Mountain, Pyramid Peak, Mt. Washoe, the Valley of the Carson River, and "Massif Palmyra." Towns named on the map include Washoe City, Fort Churchill, Genoa, Carson, with several dozen mines also named. Relief shown pictorially, by hachures and spot heights. Includes key to geological formation and notes. Guillemin-Tarayre's map is part of a rare set of scientific works published by the French government.

Souvenir of the 1904 World’s Fair in St. Louis, put together by three officers of the Merchants’ Exchange of Oakland as part of an apparent effort to promote Oakland business at the fair. The button, adorned with California poppies, names these officers as commissioners in minuscule type, shows Alameda County and Bay Area cities with ferry locations and railroads, and places the University of California, Berkeley and Mills College along the upper rim.
