The illustrations on the cover by Leslie Ragan, depict inhabitants: an American Indian, a Mexican musician and a woman against the background of high snowy mountains, a skyscraper and a train in the foreground. "United States Lines" stamp on front cover. Despite the fact that it was issued by the railroads there is no railroad theme to the map. Map showing state boundaries, major cities, landmarks, industry, agriculture, forests, national parks, recreational activities, and places of interest. Includes "A table of one way distance." Relief shown pictorially. On verso: text and photos describe the sights of America, Canada and Mexico.
